He is principal trumpet of the Phillipines Symphony Orchestra and a renouned soloist. Congratulations Fredeline. Your choice, a Gemini all copper straight mute,  will be in the mail tomorrow, in time, I hope, for the PSO performance of I Pini di Roma. Who will be number 3,000 and win a mute.?

AhmandBaset Azizi, 3000th Facebook Friend

Dear Facebook friends. As a result of my Every Thousandth Facebook Friend program I have sent AhmadBaset Azizi of Kabul, Afghanistanas, Facebook friend number 3000, a gift of a Gemini straight mute. AhmadBaset  is a young trumpeter, now 16 years old, who has had much success in learning to play the trumpet, in spite of the situation in Afganistan.

In his words(edited): "Playing music is very difficult in a country like Afghanistan. Many Afghans do not like music or people who play or listen to music. There are groups who would Cut Off The Head of anyone playing or listening to music.I cannot practice at home because the sound is too loud. After graduation I hope I can study outside of Afghanistan, to improve my musical abilities and achieve my goals.

"Ahmad is 1st trumpet in the Afghanistan Wind Ensemble and  has performed at many public functions, including at the French, American, and Swedish embassies and many times for President Ghani of Afghanistan.Since 2013 he has been 1st trumpet of the Afghanistan Symphony Orchestra and has performed at many more concerts and public functions.

His great desire is after high school to study music in Europe or the United States. Anybody with ideas of how to facilitate this desire please contact AhmadBaset Azizi on Facebook or me, Tom Crown,  tcmute@att.net or on Facebook.
